Who Am I?

My name is Kate Garcia. I am from a small town in south Texas. I have been a surgical tech for 12 years now and I love it. But like most people, I wanted to become my own boss and make money for myself. If you ask anyone who knows me, I have always been the type to try something new in business. I had a small retail shop out of my home about 7 years ago, I tried a lawn care business and I even thought of selling sheds (never happened). None of my hundreds of ideas or small shops pulled through until now. I am also a wife (husband pictured in the operation cap on the home page!) and a new mom of a sweet 7 month old baby boy. So, you can just imagine how much learning and adjusting we are going through juggling a new baby, work and a small business. It does take a toll, and and thank each and every one of you for sticking with me through all the ups and downs.

How did I get here?

It all started around August of 2019. My mom wanted to purchase some scrub hats for me for surgical tech week. I thought wow, these are pretty pricy and that's because they are on sale and the designs aren't even extraordinary, and that’s when it clicked. I thought "hey. I can do this myself and make 100s if I wanted to". Even though I had never sewn a stich my whole life. That's just the kind of person I am. I get an idea, and I don't stop until I succeed. So there I go purchasing an $80 sewing machine without even knowing how to thread or turn it on. I took it to my grandmother because she is the queen of sewing! (She made all my clothing as a baby!) And that’s where it all began!

I attended YouTube University day and night, that site is a life saver. I used all the fabric my grandmother gave me to practice on and I just started sewing. Took 4 to 5 hours just to complete 1 hat and it looked like a child could have done it. It was bad. But I just kept trying and practicing and yelling at the machine until I got the hang of it.

Now 3 years later, I offer 6 different styles of hats and hundreds of custom prints. I also customize the images myself on some. I look forward to expanding even more and offer more styles and prints that everyone will enjoy. In the meantime, I thank each and every customer, family and friend who has supported me through this ongoing journey.
